Kerry M on behalf of her mother-in-law whom has since passed away:
“J. was my mother-in-law. She was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). This is a horrible disease that shrinks the lungs, makes it difficult to get oxygen into the bloodstream and leaves the victim breathless whenever they do simple, everyday takes like dressing or making a meal.
She had an oxygen concentrator, for home use, and E cylinders for when she left her home. She could not manipulate the regulators to change an empty cylinder to a full cylinder. She was a very petite woman and did not have the strength to lift the E cylinder in and out of her car. These factors forced her into a homebound existence and stole her independence. Trips to the doctors took 3-4 E oxygen cylinders, because of the high flows she needed to be on when she walked any distance. Liquid oxygen would have given her more independence and freedom. The device is much smaller and delivers oxygen for a longer period.”
