Commission Responds Favorably to AARC Request for Action
Quick
action on the part of the AARC and other groups has yielded a successful
resolution to a problem concerning a proposed
Joint Commission Nursing Executive standard that may have been interpreted
as requiring respiratory care and other departments to fall under nursing
service coordination and reimbursement. The AARC recently received word
from the Joint Commission stating that the standard is being revised to
address the problem.

Endorses PHS Tobacco Guidelines
The U.S. Public Health Service has updated its tobacco treatment
guidelines, and the AARC is officially on board with the new document.
The Association not only endorsed the 2008 update, but AARC Executive
Director Sam Giordano was invited to the media release that took place
last week at AMA headquarters in Chicago .
