AARC Supports Funding for Labor-HHS-Education Departments

May 21, 2008

The AARC has just signed on to a new letter asking for the highest possible funding allocation for the Departments of Labor, Education, and Health and Human Services.

Sent by the Coalition for Health Funding to House Appropriations Committee Chair David Obey (D-WI) and Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Robert C. Byrd (D-WV), the letter requests an additional $15 billion to support the vital work of these key federal departments.

The increase is expected in part to help fund additional health care research.

The letter notes, “The programs and services administered by the Departments of Health and Human Services, Education, and Labor serve a broad range of constituencies and needs . . .  America cannot sustain its global scientific and economic leadership, national security and citizens' health and well-being without increasing these investments.”
