Become a DRIVER

The AARC and COPD Foundation have collaborated on the Drive4COPD for the last several years. This project has allowed us the ability to drive awareness about COPD and promote respiratory care as a profession.

DRIVE4COPD

This week, the Drive4COPD began a new challenge for AARC members. We are asking AARC members to become DRIVERS and screen those in the community. As a DRIVER, members will go into their communities and screen the public to find those at risk for developing COPD. This allows AARC members the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with the public, screen participants for risk factors, and promote the profession.

The screener, which has been a paper-based screener in the past, is now also available in an electronic format. You can use your laptop, tablet, or smartphone to assist persons in the community with completing the 5-question screener. And, if you want to participate in some friendly competition, you can enter your AARC number to track the number of screeners you complete. The AARC member with the largest number of screens between July 18, 2014, and November 30, 2014, will receive complimentary registration to the AARC Congress 2015 in Tampa, Florida! The recipient will be announced at the AARC booth at AARC Congress 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Get Started

The electronic process is very easy. Start by visiting www.aarc.org/drive4copd/ and enter your AARC number. The system will guide you through the 5 questions and will tally the responses for a risk score when the screener is complete. The electronic screener is a great addition to health fairs and community events!
