We’ll have a roundup of your RC Week activities on in a week or so, but in the meantime we wanted to share some of the great media coverage AARC members and their organizations received for RC Week in this special edition of Good Press—

  • Ben Downs shared lots of information about respiratory conditions and career opportunities available in the profession on a local morning show that aired on KTHV out of Arkansas. Watch it here.

  • The UCSD Medical Center in San Diego, CA, decided to show off its array of medical technology during RC Week, and Suzan Herzig served as a great spokesperson, not once, but twice. In this clip that ran on the CBS station, she talks about new technology and how it is making care more comfortable for the patient. In this segment on the FOX station, she starts with a demonstration of an iron lung then segues to modern technology used today. The department garnered similarly great press in the Spanish language media through this video on Univision San Diego that featured Elsie Collado and Isaac Zamora.

  • RT students at Rose State College teamed up with a local Buick dealership to drive home the antismoking message to fellow students, and the event was covered in this article on the college website. The dealership parked a brand new Buick truck on campus to illustrate the fact that not buying cigarettes for five years would help people save enough money to purchase the vehicle.

  • The respiratory care department at MaineGeneral Medical Center hosted a lung health information and screening session on Monday afternoon, and the session was announced to the public in this article in the Waterville, ME, Morning Sentinel.

  • RTs from Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital traveled to the Ashland Town Center to provide free screening spirometry on Wednesday of RC Week, and their activities were noted in this article in the Huntington, WV, Herald-Dispatch.

  • Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center threw its support behind National Respiratory Care Week in this article on out of Arizona.

Pulmonary and Critical Care Specialists of NOVA in Fairfax, VA, acknowledged RC Week by issuing this press release saluting their respiratory therapist on staff, Kelly Brown.
