Long Term Care:This issue is full of good news about the feedback the AARC is getting on the long term care position statement sent out to Medicaid agencies and an increase in reimbursement for ventilator care set for this October. We also have an article on networking via the Association’s new social media site, AARConnect.
Management: In this issue, we announce that Cheryl Hoerr, MBA, RRT, CPFT, FAARC, has been named interim chair of the Management Section. We also have a lot of great content in this issue specifically geared to the busy manager: Two articles on managing time, a look at social networking for RT managers, a piece on leadership and its challenges, and a story on surviving the night shift.
Neonatal-Pediatrics: With an article on premedication of neonates for elective intubation, part one of a two part series on bronchopulmonary dysplasia, and a look at a POC Scholar Research Program, neo-peds RTs will have plenty to keep them reading. Our editors also provide an informative overview of recent section activities.
Sleep: Section Chair Tony Stigall updates us on section activities, and we have great articles on central sleep apnea and complicated breathing patterns, why everyone is an educator, and sleep deprivation.
Surface & Air Transport:Member Billy Hutchinson fills us in on his trip to Haiti in May, and Section Chair Steve Sittig shares his recent WWII Honor Flight experience. We’re also announcing the winners of last issue’s flight physiology quiz, and we present another great transport exam review topic, this time on acetaminophen overdose. Sittig also offers a Notes from the Chair column urging everyone to attend the upcoming AARC International Respiratory Congress and more.
