The Adult Acute Care, Continuing Care/Rehabilitation, Diagnostics, Education, and Home Care Sections have just published the Summer issues of their Bulletins.

Here are your direct links to these informative publications:

Adult Acute Care: Section Chair Mike Hewitt explains how the economy is impacting his hospital and what they’ve done to cope, and we also have an article on preventing VAP that’s based on the HHS action plan for preventing health care associated infections. A look at the AARC’s new COPD Educator Course rounds out the issue.

Continuing Care/Rehabilitation: This edition features a great article on a peer volunteer program by section member Rebecca Wills, plus interesting reports on new and upcoming medications, articles of interest from the journals, a Joint Commission Patient Safety Goal, and pulmonary rehab resources. Section Chair Debbie Koehl updates us on section activities in her Notes column as well.

Diagnostics: Editor Rick Weaver addresses diffusing capacity in his article, and we have a great report on bronchoreversibility from Dr. James Hansen, emeritus professor of medicine at UCLA.

Education: This issue is full of must-reads for educators, including thought-provoking columns from Editor Bob Fluck and Section Chair Lynda T. Goodfellow, and informative reports on distance education and the lack of end of life education in allied health curriculums by section members Doug Gardenhire and Chip Zimmerman. Jim Allen’s latest cartoon is guaranteed to give everyone a laugh as well.

Home Care: Editor Vernon Pertelle, Section Chair Bob McCoy, and guest author Kelly Riley all tackle health care reform and how it will impact home care. Plus we have a couple of announcements related to the late Dr. Tom Petty that everyone will want to know about.

The remaining five Specialty Section Bulletins—Long Term Care, Management, Neonatal-Pediatrics, Sleep, and Surface & Air Transport—will publish their Summer editions next month.
