AARC Attends National Meeting for High School Students
June 24, 2008
The Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) held their National Leadership Conference and the AARC attended to answer questions and promote the profession of respiratory care.
Held in Dallas, June 18–20, HOSA is a high-school based organization for students interested in pursuing health care careers. Over 1,000 students attended as well as faculty advisors for the group.

Students from Collin County Community College near Dallas, helped man
the AARC's booth at HOSA.
“Many of the advisors were excited to see the AARC there and in fact many indicated their interest in having a respiratory therapist visit their classroom,” said Bill Dubbs, AARC’s Director of Education and Management Services.
Attendees come from all over the country and listen to lectures on health care careers. They also participate in competitions (reminiscent of our own Sputum Bowl).
“These are kids who, in many cases, know that they want to go into health care but haven’t finalized a career plan. They come to this show wanting to learn more,” said Dubbs.
AARC has attended HOSA for
several years as an exhibitor. This weekend AARC will be presenting and
exhibiting at the national meeting of high school guidance counselors.
AARC's Chief Operating Officer Tom Kallstrom will attend and showcase
the profession to hundreds of guidance counselors looking for information
on careers for students.
