Interdisciplinary Communication: Strategies to Improve Patient Safety
Presented by Cheryl Hoerr BS, MBA/HCM, RRT, CPFT, FAARC
Healthcare has become increasingly complex and patients are at significant risk when accessing care. Poor communication among healthcare providers continues to be a primary cause of sentinel events leading to patient injury and death. As providers continue to feel the impact of reduced reimbursement related to poor quality care they must develop more efficient strategies through which coworkers can monitor patient care situations, support other team members, and communicate more effectively. This presentation will provide basic communication tools that facilitate accurate patient care related communication among healthcare team members and support safe patient care delivery.
