Effective VAP Reduction Strategies
Tom Malinowski, BS, RRT, FAARC
Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP) often results in the prolongation of mechanical ventilation, higher mortality rates, and greater hospital costs. Some facilities have been able to reduce VAP incidence to zero events for an extended period of time (1-2 years), while other facilities struggle. Are VAP rates comparable between institutions and differing patient populations? What traits correspond to success? This webcast will review the value and methodology of VAP monitoring, and provide practical steps that effectively reduce VAP.
