Therapist Innovation vs. Evidence-Based Practice
Featuring Bob Kacmarek Ph.D., RRT, FAARC
Innovation has been part of the reason why Respiratory Care has prospered over its short history. Evidence based medicine does not eliminate clinical judgment and innovation still occurs but requires us to approach innovation in a more precise and consistent manner. Care should be exercised in interpreting and applying the results of randomized controlled trials, we should not necessarily integrate the finding of a single trial into our daily practice. Innovation is still alive in Respiratory Care and I expect it to continue.
